Follow Up: spacemen need their sunscreen

Space.com has chosen the top 10 images taken by the SOHO spacecraft. Above is an image that illustrates rafuzo's point about just how big these flares are. In reality, the Earth is not that close to the sun. However it is now known, that a collision with a series of giant white letters, nearly twice the size of the Earth, is immanent.
