L.A. Wants to End 'Master' and 'Slave' Equipment
By Dan Whitcomb, Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles officials have asked that manufacturers, suppliers and contractors stop using the terms "master" and "slave" on computer equipment, saying such terms are unacceptable and offensive.
"Based on the cultural diversity and sensitivity of Los Angeles County, this is not an acceptable identification label," Joe Sandoval, division manager of purchasing and contract services, said in a memo sent to County vendors.
"We would request that each manufacturer, supplier and contractor review, identify and remove/change any identification or labeling of equipment components that could be interpreted as discriminatory or offensive in nature."
That's it! This "Politically Correct" bullshit has gone too far! This gets my "Criminally Absurd Award of the Week." The US is on the brink of becoming a fascist regime, wide spread wars and assorted strife, North Korea is mentally unstable, and trigger happy to boot, the Red Sox consistently sucking...
... and all these asshat's can think about is finding new ways to be offended by anything that happens to take their fancy, including apparently, obscure technical jargon. Most people would not know a hard drive if I ripped it out of their computer and beat them with it. Any postings to this forum that contain any sort of "PC tomfoolery" will meet with swift and severe mockery.
crazywriterinla, what the hell is wrong with people out there?

come on, be real. The US is NOT "on the brink of becoming a fascist regime" much more than it is "on the brink of becoming a communist regime" (both of which having dictatorial attributes that are uncanny in similarity). Overuse of the term "fascist" is almost as damaging to one's credibility in public discourse as is (not surprisingly) the "Hilter comparison" (which is often used on american presidents and/or people they are not currently at war with, i.e. they are implied to support).

Yes, perhaps I did overstate that a little. What word would you recommend in reference to the Patriot Act and the shenanigans of John Ashcroft?

So few people in L.A. have control over anything, that they try to control anything they can. I mean, the fucking ground shakes here and people can't control it so they get pissed about everything else. This seems to be a fine example of the butt cobras of this finely governatored state taking it upon themselves to insert themselves into everyone else's business and draw in attention. LA aint sensitive, its needy. Kind of like a woman that constantly needs attention and bitches when it dont get it, hence this sort of flim flam.
