Save Professor Harrison!

A popular professor has been denied tenure at Boston College, upsetting many former students who value his contribution to the undergraduates. Visit the website to see what you can do to help. Larger issues here include the publish or perish system of universities, and commitment to undergraduate education.
Professor Kevin Harrison from Boston College's Geology department has gone above and beyond the call of duty with his students year after year. A dedicated scientist, his research has positively impacted millions and is changing the way the world views important geological problems that affect all of us.
However, making a difference on a big scale wasn't enough for Kevin. He has consistently taken into consideration one of the greatest aspects of a university: community. His positive mentoring, excellent teaching style, and ability to touch the lives of students has made him into one of the most popular professors year after year with the people who matter: the students. Professor Harrison has never failed to remember that although research is imperative, it cannot effectively impact people's lives if they do not see and understand its importance. Thus, he has worked hard to generate interest in geology in young people, and to make sure they clearly understand what the problems are, and to possibly correct them.
HOWEVER, although Kevin Harrison has never lost sight of what's important, it seems that the Board of Trustees, and the Arts and Sciences Promotion Committee of Boston College have. They have denied him tenure, effectively terminating his employment. And although Professor Harrison has a track record that clearly indicates that his dedication to his students, his research, and public service are paramount, a flawed system of review allows for Boston College to overlook all this, making decisions on bias rather than the FACTS.
