April 15 attracts tax protesters
Where else but Noveau Hampshire?
from Porstmouth Herald
PORTSMOUTH - Christopher Groski, New Hampshire state coordinator of We The People, hasn't filed a federal income tax return since 1997.
And he's urging other taxpayers to follow suit.
On Thursday morning, Groski, bearing the raw, windy weather, stood in front of the post office on Daniel Street in an effort to "educate the public on their rights in the Constitution pertaining to the federal income tax."
Groski said he and other members of his organization were spending the day on Thursday - the last day to file tax returns for 2003 - at post offices around New Hampshire educating the public on ways to legally avoid paying income taxes or filing federal tax returns.
"We don't advocate breaking the law or protesting taxes," said Groski. "I'm against tyranny."
Groski said he does not have to pay federal income taxes because a law does not exist requiring him to do so.
"Despite the unambiguous language of virtually all other federal tax statutes, which do specifically impose a legal obligation to pay, no such statutory language exists that imposes a legal liability to pay federal income taxes," according to the Web site givemeliberty.org.
Groski said the 16th Amendment "instituted no new way to tax, nor did it repeal a former method of taxation."
Also, according to other information provided by Groski, the amendment "was not properly ratified by the states of the union, according to the Constitution of the United States, and therefore (it is) void by law."
I wonder how the 16th amendment fits in to Admiralty law...

At 9 a.m., Groski started handing out information to the public, including copies of the U.S. Constitution. At around 3:30 p.m., he was joined by another demonstrator, Bill Hurley, of Manchester."Most people have been receptive," Hurley said. "We've received a lot of thumbs up from people driving by."
Still, not all passers-by seemed happy with the demonstrators.
One driver, upon seeing the signs Groski and Hurley were holding, which said "No Answers, No Taxes," rolled down his car window and shouted, "Vote for Bush."
Shrugging his shoulders at the comment, Groski said he would continue handing out flyers and information until the post office closed.

Even if these yahoos were right, as soon as enough people stopped paying taxes that it threatened the next congressional pay raise, a law would be passed through congress faster then Taco Bell through a fat man.
