10/18/2006: :: Criminally Absurd

All Your ISP Records Are Belong To The FBI (if they get their way)
from CNet

Welcome to the beginning of the future of the Internet. FBI Director Robert Mueller called on Internet Service Providers to record the surfing habits of their clients in a speech yesterday at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Boston. This tool will ostensibly be used, of course, to capture terrorists, online sexual predators and other unsavory criminal elements that currently use the internet anonymously. Legislation to make this 1984 scenario a reality may be introduced sometime next year.

This little tidbit of information was apparently not interesting enough to be picked up by the Boston Globe or the Boston Herald, but I bet there's a bunch of cool gory stories about car crashes and murders and stuff!
